What Factors Determine The Shrinkage Of Alloy Steel Castings

The properties of wear-resistant steel castings are greatly related to the industrial production and application, so the performance of the wear-resistant steel castings is very demanding.

Sometimes the same batch of alloy steel castings, the size of the deviation, to a large extent caused by shrinkage, and therefore determine the process parameters are the basis for the production process.

The casting shrinkage of alloy steel castings under sand casting condition is 2.6% to 2.7%, but it varies with casting size and wall thickness. The thicker the wall, the stronger the thermal effect of the metal on the mold, the less the strength of the cast material and the resistance to the shrinkage of the casting, and the greater shrinkage of the casting in the casting and the higher shrinkage. Otherwise, the shrinkage value is low.

The greater the size of alloy steel castings, the greater the shrinkage of the casting and the casting itself, and less shrinkage. On the contrary, the shape of the small pieces of high shrinkage. In the case of wear-resistant steel, the casting shrinkage rate (i.e., the value of ordinate) shall be multiplied by the correction factor.

The shrinkage of alloy steel castings depends on the size, wall thickness and structure of the alloy, so these factors should be taken into consideration during processing.
